Hello,
It’s
time to kick-off our 2009/2010 Georgia ASCE Geotechnical Meetings. For
our first meeting of the year, we will again be having a field
demonstration and BBQ event. This year, we are meeting at the Plasters
Avenue offices of Mactec.
MEETING: Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
TOPIC: Field Demonstration of Aggregate Pier Installation and Load Testing
Please
join us at the Plasters Avenue offices of Mactec for a Field
Demonstration of aggregate pier installation and load testing. At this
month’s meeting, HAYWARD BAKER will install and load test Vibro Piers.
Vibro Piers are well suited for light to heavy loads, and are typically
installed to intermediate depths of 5 to 20 feet. Vibro Piers
reinforce the ground to increase bearing capacity and reduce
settlement. This technology utilizes a powerful down-hole vibrator to
compact select aggregate in lifts. The dense aggregate interlocks to
form a stiff pier that engages the surrounding soil to provide
reinforcement and increased shear resistance.

TIME: 5:30 P.M. (Note the early start)
COST:
$25.00 per person (option to arrive after dinner not available for this
meeting; payment will be requested of all attendees)
