2010 Honored Member

Please join us in congratulating one of “our OWN” Georgia ASCE members,  Bruce R. Ellingwood, Ph.D., P.E., Dist.M. ASCE, NAE for award and recognition to national ASCE's 2010 class of Distinguished Members. He is one of 13 leaders, within the civil engineering community recognized for their eminence, and chosen by the Society's Board of Direction for an honor second only to becoming national ASCE President. Distinguished members display the "Dist.M.ASCE" credential.

For his acknowledged eminence as a structural engineering researcher and educator, most notably his innovations in transforming research to improve and enhance professional practice through the successful introduction of structural reliability principles in codes and standards.

Mr. Ellingwood is a professor at Ga. Institute of Technology's Civil & Environmental Engineering Department (404-894-1635).
"A Distinguished Member is a person who has attained acknowledged eminence in some branch of engineering or in the arts and sciences related thereto, including the fields of engineering education and construction." The total number of Distinguished Members elected in any year does not exceed one for every 7,500 members.
